Eckington Manor - A countryside retreat with farm-to-table dining, cookery school, and luxury rooms in converted farm buildings
Set on 121 hectares of farmland near the Cotswolds, Eckington Manor blends historic charm with modern comforts in its 16 individually designed rooms spread across four converted farm buildings. Airy suites and deluxe rooms feature hand-painted silk wallpaper, exposed oak beams, and log-burning stoves, with some offering views over the farm. The kitchen, led by Sue and Mark Stinchcombe, serves inventive menus using produce from the estate, including Aberdeen Angus beef and Highland cattle, with a breakfast spread of homemade apple juice and stewed fruits. The property includes a state-of-the-art cookery school, offering one- to three-day courses, as well as walking paths through the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pershore, with its Georgian-fronted buildings and railway station, is a nine-minute drive north, while Birmingham Airport is 50 km away.
Pros
The 12th-century timber-frame hall and converted farm buildings provide a rustic yet luxurious atmosphere.
The on-site restaurant serves inventive menus featuring produce from the farm and surrounding area.
The state-of-the-art cookery school offers hands-on courses using AGAs and induction cookers.
Multiple walking paths are available across the 121 hectare farmland and nearby landscapes.
Cons
Children over 8 years are allowed, but no facilities are provided for younger kids.
Some bedrooms are located in separate buildings, requiring a short walk from the reception.
“This property impressed me with its seamless blend of tranquil countryside charm and refined hospitality. I was particularly struck by the outstanding dining experience, from the quality of ingredients to the attentive service. The converted agricultural buildings house well-appointed rooms, making this a standout destination near the Cotswolds.”
